DogEar (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
Information you provide: email address (or, if you sign in with Apple, the name/email Apple shares with us), username and display name, an optional bio, an optional profile photo, and posts/comments/other content you share.
Information collected automatically:device type and OS, app version, and — if you enable notifications — a device token used to deliver push notifications to you.
We do not collect your location, and we do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To display your posts, comments, and profile to other users
- To send push notifications (if enabled) about activity on your posts — reactions, comments, and new followers
- To respond to feedback or support requests
- To review reports and enforce our Community Guidelines
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Information We Share
We do not sell or rent your information. We use the following service providers to run DogEar, each of whom only has access to what they need to provide their service, subject to their own privacy policies:
- Supabase— account authentication, our database, and photo storage
- Vercel— hosting our website
- Expo— delivering push notifications to your device
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect user safety.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections and access controls that limit who and what can read your data. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure.
Your Rights
- Access the information we hold about you, through your profile and account settings.
- Delete your account and dataat any time, directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account) — this takes effect immediately, not on a delay.
- Opt out of push notifications anytime via your device settings.
Children’s Privacy
DogEar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We’ll notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in-app.
